Special Hardware Operation Modes
The switch includes a physical DIP manual selector switch on its chassis supporting four unique integrated operational functions:
- Extend Mode: Extends data and power transmission distances up to 250 meters over Cat5e/Cat6 copper cabling on designated ports. Ports 1 through 8 throttle to 10Mbps to sustain signal integrity at this extended range.
- VLAN Mode: Isolates downlink ports completely from one another. This configuration allows downlink devices to communicate exclusively via uplink paths, containing broadcast storms and maximizing network security.
- QoS (Quality of Service): Automatically prioritizes network bandwidth packets, reserving high-priority lines for smooth video streaming and live CCTV surveillance feeds.
- PoE Reset (PoE Watchdog): Intelligently monitors attached PoE installations. The switch will automatically reboot an unresponsive or frozen IP camera or wireless access point by power-cycling its specific deployment port.
